The names Martin, Reese Martin

This is the opening title sequence for Casino Royale. I'm just gunna say that even though I'm still not sure how I feel about there being a new James Bond actor, this is the best opening sequence of all the Bond movies. This great example of motion graphics in graphic design. I would maybe post this as contemporary style but I could be wrong. It looks like there are many styles rolled into one here.

cmyk in ya face!

This is just a test in typography someone did but i thought it was great nonetheless. I would place it in the digital style due to its digital unreadability even though the overall composition is cleaner, Contemporary/Digital mayhaps. I just really loved how clever this was. Take that retinas!

I think its a sign

These are signs in a junkyard. They are basically construction warning signs. I found them a junkyard here in town near the huge train hub. They have a very minimalistic, modern design. This is probably to ensure there is only one interpretation of the sign. I just thought to show these because streets signs are graphic design too. Though they seem plain and boring and most people wouldn't refer to them as art, much thought went into their design.

Hey man nice shirt

This is one my favorite shirts. I dont normally like wearing shirts that are promotion for a brand like Hurley or whatever but this one is awsome and you can't really tell its Hurley other than the H on the skulls. This is definitely digital style because of its messy composition and unreadability.
The alignment on the shirt makes for an interesting composition.

My cereal does not tear up the roof of your mouth!!

This is the front of Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch. Its main purpose is basically to attract people walking by at the store to chance getting the crap ripped out of the roof of their mouths. This is definitely Kitsch with his over-enthusiastic expression and the exaggeration of perspective and the overall cereal eating experiance. The quality is fairly low grade but that's Kitsch for ya. I picked this example because of his creepyness and that I was looking at the box and realized that this is very Kitsch and wished that I had thought about just how Kitsch most cereal boxes are.

ZOMBIES VS ROBOTS nuff said...

This is an advertisement for something that sounds freaking awsome....Zombies Vs Robots! ZOMBIESvsROBOTS is a 24 page graphic tale of....a robot fighting a zombie....yes I know that's amazing. This add came out of another graphic zombie book I own called ZOMBIES! no.5 feast. The typography is fairly modern whereas the background art is more handmade. I think the body art of the advertisement is very well done. I like the ambiguity of many of the details. The typography pulled me in as well with its use of bold font to separate words and still be successful.

IT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND

This is a poster for Blowing in the Mind by Bob Dylan and it was done by Martin Sharp. This image really struck me because of its muted color scheme which is a personal preference of mine. I also enjoy the repetition of the circular shapes. This image is very psychedelic with its misshapen type and its overall trippy composition.

Guerilla One!

This is from a very super awesome website called Juxtapoz.com. I like this one because of its very strong composition that really grabs you. I think I would call this art deco mayhaps? It reminds me of the Metropolis movie poster.

Left 4 Dead

This is the box of Left 4 Dead i scanned in at home. Aside from being an awesome video game I think the graphic design on the box is pretty great. Like a lot of zombie movies and such it sticks with the hand made type and all the things that could possibly be called kitsch. But mainly the type is my focus here.

Want a Fanta?

This is an ad for strawberry Fanta. I liked this one because it a nice example of how photo manipulation can be used in Graphic Design which is cool since that is one of the things I enjoy doing alot.

Dry Clean Only

I was looking at some neat business cards and this one was my favorite. I liked that it made me think about how graphic design doesn't really have to be on paper or on the monitor. It is neat to be reminded all the applications of the field.

Rockin'

This is a Samsung advertisement for their whole "Express yourself" ad campaign. I found it when i was looking at different pieces with a common idea. It was the idea of the using smaller objects to make a larger one. I think that's neat.

This is the same idea for Dettol Instant Hand Sanitizer.

This is the image that got me started looking at the idea.

Lies For The Liars

This is the cover of The Used's cd version of Lies For The Liars. I really love their artwork for this album. I have the special edition cd/dvd, "signed woot for me!" , and the cover of it also serves as a book of all their artwork. I believe this definitly falls under digital art. I enjoy the surreal quality of it.

Chiodos

This is one of my favorite Chiodos posters and their logo. The logo is the main focus at the moment though. I definitely think it has a strong Victorian flair on the "C". I have always loved their logo and when we were going over the Victorian era i thought of these guys the whole way. They tend to have that Victorian decoration in their promotional artwork.

Artwork by David Hill...he is the man.

Coop's Paint Ad

This is an advertisement for Coop's Paints by TM Advertising. I really love when there is an actually clever advertisement like this. I was attracted to this one because it is an actually piece of art. It has gone that extra mile to make you look twice and assist you in remembering Coop's Paint..."Oh ya that ad that had the paint all over the parking lot, cool!"
